Benefits of being Born Again

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Rom 8:31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Today I do not want to discuss predestination in the sense of goats vs sheep, I want to just look at the results and benefits of being a child of God.
In John 3 a Jewish leader called Nicodemus
came to Jesus at night,
John 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
This was a new concept for this religious leader, he had trouble grasping the concept of a new birth. (John 3:4) I remember when Jimmy Carter was campaigning for President, he referred to himself as being a born again Christian.  To some, like Nicodemus, this was a new term they did not understand and to others it was a deciding factor on who to vote for. But what Jesus was talking about was a completely changed life.
2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Being Born Again means to be born to a newness of life. To actually die to the old sinful lifestyle.
Gal 5:24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
To no longer be condemned by sin but to be born into the Royal Family of God.
Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Back in our text, I would like to draw attention to 3 words, Foreknow(to know before hand), Predestinate(appoint beforehand) and Conformed(fashioned like).

Mankind tries to understand God from our own knowledge and perspective often leaving us in confusion and disbelief. God is not restricted  by time, He is all knowing all powerful and ever present.

Eph 1:4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
God knew me in 1942 when I was born.
God knew me in 1972 when I place my trust in Him and accepted His gift of salvation
God knew yesterday what I would do today.

I don't understand it, but I believe, in 1942 God knew what I would do in 1972. That I believe is foreknowing  He foreknew me.

Eph 1:5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Because of my experience with Him in 1972,  I was adopted into Him. I will spend eternity with Him. He is preparing a place for me.  He will come again to take me to Himself.( John 14:2-3 )

Php 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
We (Christians) are a work in progress. I use to have a small pin that had a series of letters -- PBPWMFGHNFWMY --  The letters meant Please Be Patient With Me For God Has Not Finished With Me Yet
What is the outcome?  What does it mean to be conformed to the image of His Son?
Are we to be Perfect? we are told to be perfect for God is perfect.
Sinless? how could that ever be?
I believe Salvation can be viewed in 3 tenses.
In the Spring of 1972 as I accepted God's free gift, I was saved from the Penalty of sin. ( Eph. 2:8-10 )
Today as I go about my daily life I am saved from the Power of sin. ( 1 John 4:4 )
One day when this life is finished I will be saved from the Presence of sin ( 1 John 3:2

1John 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1John 3:3  And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Now the Benefit for the Born Again Christian, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is

He is Sinless
He is Glorified
He is Eternal

We will be like Him this is a Benefit of being Born Again.
These are eternal life Benefits.
